Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Ieltsprep.ai ("we", "us") collects when you use our AI-powered IELTS Speaking practice service (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

  • Early-access requests. If you request a free practice-test invitation, we store your email, request date, and the version of the invitation request you submitted. We use this information to manage early access and contact you about your invitation. You can ask us to delete your request using the contact details below.
  • Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address.
  • Practice data. Your test attempts, the transcript of your speaking session, and the generated assessment and feedback. Your microphone audio is processed in real time to run the session.
  • Usage data. Basic technical and usage information needed to run and improve the Service.
  • Payment data. Purchases are processed by Paddle. We receive confirmation of your purchase and your billing email, but we do not collect or store your full card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • to provide the speaking session and generate your feedback report;
  • to manage your account, credits, and subscription;
  • to maintain, secure, and improve the Service; and
  • to communicate with you about your account or support requests.

3. Voice & Transcript Data

Your speaking session is conducted over a real-time voice connection and transcribed so that it can be assessed. The transcript and resulting report are stored with your test attempt so you can review your results. We use this data to provide the assessment and investigate technical problems. The current app saves transcripts and session metadata; it does not provide a saved audio recording for playback. Feedback is based on recognised text, not an audio pronunciation assessment. LiveKit session diagnostics may separately retain audio, transcripts and technical logs, depending on the session recording configuration. This is separate from playback in the app. Avoid sharing sensitive personal information in your answers.

4. Service Providers

We share data with trusted providers only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Google — sign-in / authentication.
  • Supabase — database, authentication, and backend hosting.
  • LiveKit — real-time voice connection for the speaking session.
  • OpenAI — examiner decisions and transcript-based feedback.
  • Deepgram — speech recognition in the Omega preview, through LiveKit.
  • Inworld — examiner speech generation in the Omega preview, through LiveKit.
  • Vercel — hosting the IELTSprep website and preview deployments.
  • Paddle — payment processing (Merchant of Record).
  • Resend — transactional email.

Providers process data under their applicable terms and privacy policies; their roles differ by service. Processing may take place outside your country, including for live speech and AI feedback. Provider retention and processing locations depend on the service configuration. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account, transcripts and reports so you can access your practice history. The current app does not automatically delete practice history after a fixed number of days. You can request deletion of your account and associated data (see "Your Rights"). Deletion from the active service does not immediately remove copies from backups or provider security logs; these follow their applicable retention periods.

For new feedback requests, we disable OpenAI response application storage. OpenAI may still retain abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, or longer where legally required. LiveKit documents a 30-day window for agent observability data when recording is enabled. These provider periods do not replace our own practice-history retention policy.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To make a request, email support@ieltsprep.ai and we will respond as required by applicable law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies & Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in (your authentication session). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
